The challenge

What was broken.

A mid-size DTC apparel brand was bottoming out at 1.4% checkout conversion despite strong ad performance. Lighthouse scored their product detail pages at 41 on mobile. Bounce on PDPs was 62%. The marketing team knew the funnel was broken but the platform vendor was unable to ship the fixes inside 60 days.

Our approach

What we built, in order.

01

PDP rebuilt on a faster front-end stack

We rebuilt the product detail page as a hybrid app: server-rendered base content, hydrated only where interactivity was needed. Lighthouse mobile climbed from 41 to 96.

02

Responsive imagery with art-direction

Hero crops differ on mobile vs desktop, served via responsive image sets at the right size for each device. Largest contentful paint dropped by 1.2 seconds on average mobile sessions.

03

Size guidance based on the customer's history

Returning customers see size recommendations based on what they previously kept versus returned. New customers see fit feedback from buyers of the same height-weight bracket. Return rate dropped 19%.

Same traffic, same product, 28% more revenue. We spent more on the build than we would have liked. We made it back in the first 60 days.
